At Shelburne Smile Centre it is our mission to create a positive dental experience for our community. As a local family-owned business, you are not only our patients, but our neighbors and it is our pleasure to serve you.

At Shelburne Smile Centre we are a family friendly dental practice passionate about serving our local community. Our goal is to share our knowledge about oral health to help our patients achieve a lifetime of smiles. Through general and restorative dentistry procedures such as tooth coloured fillings - we can fix chipped, broken, worn and decayed teeth. At our practice we do not place amalgam (silver) fillings - but offer amalgam free, aesthetically pleasing tooth coloured restorations instead.

We are here for your entire family. We welcome toddlers, children, teens, adults and seniors. Our family friendly practice has a kids area and a healthy mouth club where kids can show off their smiles.

Meet Our Staff

Dr. Benjamin “Ben” vanGalen

From the small town of Orangeville Ontario, Dr. Ben travelled far and wide for his education, attending boarding school at St. Andrew's College, undergraduate at the University of Guelph, and eventually attaining his Doctor Of Dental Surgery Degree from the prestigious New York University in Manhattan. Graduating in the top of his class with OK honours, Dr. Ben is trained in Invisalign, Root Canal Therapy, Crown and Bridge, oral Surgery, Implant placement and computer assisted digital dentistry. Still yearning for adventure, Dr. Ben also travels to the Inuit communities of the Arctic several times a year to provide pediatric care and oral surgery to the underserved communities of the north. Growing up playing hockey, and lacrosse, in Orangeville, Dr. Ben continues to give back as a coach and sponsor to the Northmen organization, and has received numerous awards for his efforts. In his free time you can find him spending time with his lovable dog' "Slug" a massive bloodhound, with a face you just can't help but love.

Dr. Joseph “Joe” Zeisler

Dr. Joseph (Joe) Zeisler is a graduate of the University of Toronto faculty of dentistry class of 1986. Dr. Joe always lived in the GTA; he grew up in the Toronto borrow of North-York where he completed his high school education. Dr. Joe also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a focus in Biochemistry and a Master of Science degree in Biotechnology/Molecular Genetics. Dr. Joe has four adult children residing in Canada and the United States and involved in a variety of occupations from construction to security to computer program development. Dr. Joe has a special interest in removable prosthodontics (tooth gap replacement) which includes the wide spectrum of denture options of full dentures, immediate dentures, partial dentures, over dentures and implant supported dentures. Dr. Joe's long-term goal is to work forever and never retire.

Allison

Office Manager

Allison has been in the dental field since graduating from the dental assisting program in 2009 and enjoys everything in the field of dentistry. She is excited to be part of the amazing team at Shelburne Smile Centre and looks forward to meeting and assisting our wonderful patients throughout their dental journeys. Allison recently moved to Dundalk to be closer to work and enjoys small town living. When Allison is away from the office you can find her hiking with her dog Mercedes, cooking, or baking.

Jenna

Dental Assistant

Born and raised in Grey County, Jenna attended Fanshawe College for dental assisting, where she graduated with honours. After spending few years working in London, she returned to her hometown where she met the love of her life, her husband Cory. As lifelong lovers of the country and all the Grey County has to offer, Jenna and her husband remain constantly involved in the community. If you can’t find Jenna at the ball diamond, or enjoying the great outdoors, you can find her spending time with her family and her beloved dog Harley.

Candice

Dental Assistant

A Mississauga native, Candice made the move to Grand Valley after graduating from Medix College in 2017 with a degree in dental assisting. A lover of nature, Candice’s favourite thing about moving north is basking in the sun while camping with her husband and two children.

A lover of art, music and literature, if you can’t find her tanning by the water or sitting by the fire, you can usually catch her curled up with a good book.

Annie and Lisa

Administration

Annie graduated from York University’s Glendon Campus in 2008 with bilingual degrees in World Literature, Political Science and she earned a certificate in pre-law. Soon after graduating Annie started her working life with The Hospital for Sick Children in the Emergency Department and as the Clinical Coordinator for General Surgery where she continued for many years before starting her career in dental administration. The combination of her schooling and experience makes Annie a key asset of the Shelburne Smile Centre Administration team.

After growing up in Mississauga, ON Annie, her husband and their two young kids to Shelburne in 2020 to be closer to her parents in Melancthon. Annie enjoys rainy days with a good book and strives every day to help the people in her community achieve the smile they’ve always dreamed of having.

Lisa is both a long-time resident of the town as well as employee with Shelburne Smile Centre. As our Senior Administrator she utilizes both her Dental Assisting degree and 20+ years of experience to provide our patients with a knowledgeable and efficient experience. Lisa is always a welcome face and voice around the clinic and are we are lucky to have her as part of our team.

If she isn’t hard at work, you can find Lisa with her friends, family and dog Harley enjoying the outdoors doing anything involving the water.

Andrea and Blaise

Dental Hygienists

Even as a child, Andrea mentioned in her grade 8 yearbook that her future occupational goal was to be a Dental Hygienist. After graduating from Fanshaw College in 2008 as a Dental Assistant she quickly pursued that goal and completed her Hygiene program in 2010. Andrea’s go-getter and singing personality has made her into one of Shelburne Smiles Centre primary team members by providing thorough, comprehensive treatment to her patients.

After moving from a cattle farm, Andrea fell in love with the small town feel of Shelburne and made the move with her husband Brad where they are raising their 2 young and busy sons.

Blaise is a Horning’s Mills Local who has been a hygienist for over 10 years. Living in the area her whole life, Blaise is excited to see Shelburne grow and is happy to offer gentle dental care to all of our new Shelburne residents. Blaise completed a Pre-Health Science degree at Algonquin College which led her in the dental field. Blaise then attended the Canadian Academy of Dental Hygiene and since then has upgraded her skills with many courses over the years.

As a mom of two, Blaise is very involved with her children’s sports and can usually be found at the local arenas or baseball fields.
