  • Cracked, chipped or broken teeth
  • Bleeding from your cheeks, gums or tongue
  • An injury to your face or mouth due to an accident
  • Inflammation in your mouth, gums, or tongue
  • Knocked out or partially dislodged teeth

If any of these relate to you right now, please call us immediately to book an appointment. However, if it is a true medical emergency, or the patient has been knocked unconscious, please call 911 immediately.

What to do if a tooth is knocked out?

There is a good chance of saving the tooth If you act quickly. When you have a knocked-out tooth you should first rinse it and your mouth with lukewarm water - but avoid touching the root part of the tooth.

After washing, hold the tooth by the crown part and try to insert the knocked-out tooth back in the empty tooth socket. Bite down softly on a gauze pad or a wet tea bag it will help to hold the tooth inside the socket until you can reach Shelburne Smile Centre.

In some cases if you feel like the tooth is not going into the socket then you can hold the tooth in your mouth attached with your cheek or keep it in a glass of milk which will keep it moisturized and prevent the roots from drying out.

If you or a member of your family has a dental emergency, call us at Shelburne Smile Centre to find out your next steps with professional help.
